A joint Lagos-Ogun police operation has rescued five kidnap victims and arrested 88 suspects while dismantling criminal camps along forest corridors linking the two states.
Police have struck a heavy blow against kidnappers terrorising Lagos and Ogun forest communities. Five kidnap victims have been rescued and 88 suspects arrested as a joint security operation, Operation Kosaye, intensifies across both states, according to The PUNCH.
Speaking at the operation’s launch in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said the initiative — backed by the Inspector-General of Police and both state governments — is targeting kidnappers and violent criminals hiding in forests and border communities. Operatives have dismantled camps and reclaimed several forest corridors, he said.
Four suspected kidnappers were killed during a rescue along the Ijebu-Ode corridor, with four others arrested. Police recovered AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns and locally made pistols. Lagos Commissioner Fatai Tijani said the operation will continue until criminal elements are fully rooted out.
