House of Representatives aspirant Mahmud Sadis Buba has withdrawn from the race to represent Sabon Gari Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing party reconciliation efforts.
Mahmud Sadis Buba, a prominent House of Representatives aspirant popularly known as Al-ajabin Zazzau, has announced his immediate withdrawal from the race to represent the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency. In a formal letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and published on his verified Facebook page on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Buba stated that the decision followed intense internal mediation. His exit from the primary race comes on the heels of a recent controversy surrounding his age, which had sparked significant debate among constituents and party faithful during his campaign for the ruling party’s ticket.
The aspirant emphasized that his decision to step down was heavily influenced by high-level political interventions aimed at ensuring party cohesion ahead of the general elections. In his notification letter, Buba wrote: “Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am withdrawing from the race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, effective immediately. This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party. Consequently, after extensive consultations with my family, political associates, and stakeholders within our great party, I have decided that this decision is in the best interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Buba expressed his gratitude to the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the APC leadership for the opportunity to participate in the democratic process, noting that the experience had greatly enriched him. Reaffirming his absolute loyalty to the party, he maintained that his withdrawal was a strategic move rather than a capitulation. “I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he stated. He urged his followers to remain calm and united, pleading with them to throw their full weight and maximum support behind the party’s eventual consensus candidate at the polls.
