In the day’s bigger shock, debutants Malawi stunned defending champions Nigeria 3-2 at the Stade El Barid, as sisters Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga combined for all three goals, with Temwa grabbing a brace.
Rasheedat Ajibade and Uchenna Kanu scored Nigeria’s consolation goals in the Group C defeat.
