Cardinal John Onaiyekan alleges that sycophants surrounding President Tinubu are painting a “rosy picture” of Nigeria’s true situation, following a recent meeting between the Catholic Bishops’ Conference and the president.

The Cardinal isn’t holding back. Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, per Daily Post Nigeria, Onaiyekan said: “There are so many people hanging around Mr President, giving him a rosy picture of what the country is, which it is not.”
His comments followed a meeting between the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) and Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. Onaiyekan said the bishops felt obligated to present the president with a more accurate picture of Nigeria’s realities. “That is the reality that we painted, which I know is not the kind of thing that he wanted to hear. And his reply showed that very clearly,” he added.
