The Nigeria Democratic Congress has rejected a Federal High Court ruling on its registration and plans to appeal.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) isn’t backing down. After a Federal High Court in Lokoja set aside an earlier ruling that had ordered INEC to register it, the party is firing back, insisting it remains fully legal and heading straight to the Court of Appeal.
In a Friday statement, the NDC pointed out it’s already run congresses, conventions, primaries, and even contested bye-elections since registration. It also questioned the court’s jurisdiction to reopen the case, arguing the Peace Movement Party, which sparked the dispute over a logo clash, isn’t even a registered party.
According to Vanguard, the NDC insists this isn’t deregistration and accused unnamed forces of trying to weaken opposition politics ahead of 2027.
