The Premier League has released all 380 fixtures for the 2026/27 season, with defending champions Arsenal kicking things off at home against newly promoted Coventry City on Friday, August 21, and the campaign concluding on May 30, 2027.
The calendar is out, the dates are set, and the excitement is building. The Premier League has unveiled the full fixture schedule for the 2026/27 season, with the new campaign kicking off one week later than usual following the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup in North America this summer.
“All fixtures remain subject to change,” the Premier League noted in its official release.
The Curtain-Raiser
According to The PUNCH,Defending champions Arsenal will open the season at home to Championship winners Coventry City on Friday, August 21, in an 8pm kick-off at Emirates Stadium, live on Sky Sports. It’s a fitting start — Gunners fans barely had time to catch their breath after a 22-year title drought ended last season, and now Mikel Arteta’s side will be expected to deliver from minute one.
The fixture list will feature Coventry for the first time since the 2000/01 season, after Frank Lampard’s side claimed the Championship title. Fellow promoted sides Ipswich Town and Hull City are also back in the top flight.
Opening Weekend Highlights
The opening weekend also sees Hull City host Manchester United in the first Saturday lunchtime game of the season, live on TNT Sports at 12:30, while Nottingham Forest host Leeds United, Crystal Palace visit Everton, and Ipswich Town return to Premier League action against Sunderland at 15:00.
Saturday concludes with Brentford hosting Tottenham Hotspur, live on Sky Sports at 17:30. On Sunday, Manchester City face AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad at 14:00, Brighton host Aston Villa at the same time — due to their UEFA Conference League commitments the preceding Thursday — before Newcastle United take on Liverpool in the weekend’s headline fixture at 16:30, live on Sky Sports.
The first Match Round wraps up on Monday, August 24, with Fulham hosting Chelsea at Craven Cottage at 20:00, live on Sky Sports.
Season Structure
The 2026/27 season will consist of 33 weekends and five midweek match rounds, with the final day scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2027, when all fixtures will kick off simultaneously as usual.
Starting on August 22 allows for 89 clear days from the end of the 2025/26 season and 33 days from the World Cup final on July 19.
European Commitments and Calendar Clashes
Nine Premier League clubs will carry European commitments into the new season — five in the UEFA Champions League, three in the Europa League and one in the Conference League. Their midweek obligations will inevitably force scheduling adjustments across multiple weekends.
The FA Cup semi-finals and final also fall on weekends that overlap with Premier League fixtures, meaning further reshuffling is expected as the season develops.
The Community Shield
The traditional curtain-raiser will see Arsenal face FA Cup winners Manchester City in the 2026 FA Community Shield. Due to music concerts at Wembley, the match will be played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, August 16, at 3pm — the Welsh capital’s first time hosting the event since 2006.
Key Dates to Mark
Some ties already leap off the page. The Manchester derby falls on September 12, with United hosting City. The North London derby between Arsenal and Spurs takes place on December 5 away and May 1 at home. Liverpool meet Arsenal on February 6, while Chelsea face Arsenal on September 5. The season’s final round on May 30 includes Arsenal hosting Brighton — meaning if the Gunners retain the title, they’ll lift the trophy at home.
