Obi alleges government moves to block his 2027 presidential bid

Peter Obi has alleged that forces within the Federal Government are actively working to prevent him from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

Labour Party’s Peter Obi is crying foul. Speaking at a leadership programme organised by the NextGen Mentorship and Leadership Initiative at Madonna University, Okija, on Friday, the former Anambra governor claimed significant obstacles were being placed in his path to keep him off the 2027 ballot though he stopped short of naming names.

Obi, however, insisted he wouldn’t be deterred, and went a step further by challenging President Bola Tinubu and other presidential hopefuls to a public debate on their plans for Nigeria.

Punch reports that Obi also urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and vote based on competence rather than ethnicity, framing his ambition as a mission to make the country work better for all citizens.
