Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday joined protesters in Abuja calling for the real-time electronic transmission of election results.

The protest, tagged “Occupy National Assembly,” saw Nigerian youths converge on the National Assembly complex to express opposition to the Senate’s rejection of electronic transmission of election results.
Amaechi’s presence at the demonstration added to the growing list of prominent political figures supporting the demand for electoral transparency.
Also on Monday, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, joined the protesters, lending his voice to the call for the adoption of real-time electronic transmission of election results.
