Babcock University has publicly disowned a viral honorary certificate allegedly awarded to comedian Carter Efe, describing it as fake and warning that forged academic records could lead to prosecution.
Babcock University wants nothing to do with that certificate. The institution on Monday issued a public notice rejecting a viral “Honorary Certificate” allegedly awarded to comedian Carter Efe, real name Oderhohwo Joseph Efe by a body identifying itself as the “Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club.”
The university was blunt: it does not issue honorary certificates for undergraduate performance, and the classification “First Class Upper” is not recognised in its system. The correct designation is “First Class Honours,” issued strictly through official degree certificates and transcripts from the Registrar’s Office.
Vanguard reports that Babcock urged the public to disregard the document entirely, warning that forged academic records could attract prosecution under applicable laws.
