What Ribadu discussed with Vance, Rubio, Hooker during 3-day US visit

Nigeria and the US pledged stronger security and diplomatic cooperation after Ribadu’s Washington meetings this week.

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, held high-level meetings with US Vice President JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Allison Hooker and other officials during a three-day visit to Washington. Discussions focused on counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, cyber threats, border security and democratic governance.

Ribadu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to regional peace and combating violent extremism across West Africa and the Sahel. According to the Presidency, both countries agreed to deepen cooperation through the Nigeria-US Joint Working Group framework. US officials also praised Nigeria’s leadership role in regional security efforts. Ribadu highlighted reforms combining military action, community engagement and economic development to address insecurity.
