A survivor of a deadly bandit attack in Niger State says his heavily pregnant sister-in-law, abducted during the raid, has gone into labour while still being held by her captors.
A survivor of a deadly bandit attack on Maikadauri village in Niger State has revealed that his heavily pregnant sister-in-law, abducted during the raid, is reportedly in labour while still in captivity.
According to SaharaReporters, the attack occurred in Maikadauri village, Masuga District of Kontagora Local Government Area, leaving one resident dead, several injured and at least five women kidnapped.
Speaking in Hausa during an interview with journalist Zakari Adamu Kontagora, the survivor said the attackers stormed the community under heavy rainfall, shooting residents, beating villagers and carting away valuables before abducting several women.
“They called and said money should be sent to them,” he said. “The woman who is pregnant is currently in labour and trying to give birth.”
Asked if she remained with the kidnappers, he replied: “Yes, she is in their custody. That is why they are asking that money be sent so they can release them today.”
The survivor said his elderly father was brutally assaulted, while he suffered injuries to his head, legs and chest.
“Right now, from my chest upward, I feel nothing except pain,” he said. “And whenever I spit or cough, nothing comes out except blood.”
He added: “As I speak, I am in severe pain.”
