No fewer than nine juvenile Celestial Church of Christ choirs will compete for the $2,500 grand prize at the grand finale of the Oshoffa Juvenile Choir Competition on May 27.
The event, which will be held at the MUSON Centre, will either birth new champions or confirm the invincibility of the current and maiden winners of the competition, CCC El Morijah Parish, who beat 46 parishes last year to win the $2,000 grand prize.
Earlier, dozens of parishes had submitted entries for the second edition of the competition. The entries were later trimmed down to 10 by a panel of thoroughbred professionals. One parish, CCC Monatan Cathedral, however, dropped out, leaving just nine parishes.
According to the convener of the competition and leader of True Word in Season, Brother Demola Bolaji, the competition is not just about music, but about giving children purpose, instilling values, and aligning them with divine direction.“We’re building something lasting. Your gift, talent, skill, and education—those are the keys to never being poor in life,” he said.
