The Federal Government is set to launch a new digital platform, DNEMIS, to create a unified national database tracking every school, learner and teacher in Nigeria.
Nigeria is getting a digital overhaul of its education data. According to a report by Punch, the Federal Government will officially launch the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS) on Wednesday, alongside a public portal and state implementation teams.
Speaking in Abuja, National Project Coordinator Adebayo Onigbanjo said the platform aims to end years of fragmented, unreliable education data that have hampered governance. DNEMIS, a flagship component of the Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure, will build a unified database covering learners, teachers, schools and public education investments, while digitising the Annual School Census.
Special Assistant Mojoyin Adebajo said the system would support planning, budgeting and policymaking with timely data. Punch reports the platform was developed with technical support from UNICEF and the University of Oslo.
