Trump ‘is the best politician I’ve ever met’, I like him – Adeboye declares

RCCG General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye has publicly praised US President Donald Trump as “the best politician I have ever met,” revealing he personally intervened when Trump threatened to bomb Nigeria and sharing his admiration for the American leader’s reputation for keeping his word.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye just became Donald Trump’s most unlikely Nigerian fan.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), one of the most influential religious figures on the African continent, used his platform at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington on June 23 to deliver a remarkable endorsement of the American president — opening with three words that stopped the room.

“Thank God for Trump,” Adeboye said.

What followed was equal parts confession, geopolitical revelation and character assessment. Adeboye disclosed that last November, when Trump sent signals that he was considering bombing Nigeria, the pastor felt compelled to intervene — publicly.

“Last year, around November, he sent a message that he was coming to bomb Nigeria. And I felt that, again, if I did not say something, things might not go the way they should go,” Adeboye recounted, as captured in a YouTube recording of the event.

His objection to the threatened strikes was practical as much as moral: “The only problem with it is that no matter how accurate your bomb may be, some innocent people will suffer.”

But here’s the twist — the near-bombing experience didn’t sour Adeboye on Trump. If anything, it deepened his respect.

“I have never met Trump, but I have followed him, and I like him. That does not mean I agree with all his ways. What I like about him is this: one, he tells the truth. He is the best politician I have ever met,” Adeboye told the audience.

According to The Cable, he even relayed a conversation with the US Ambassador to Nigeria, telling the diplomat plainly that he liked Trump because “he is doing what he promised you he would do.”

For Adeboye, that consistency is everything — a rare and refreshing quality in a world of professional political double-speak.

“To be a good politician, you must be able to say two things from the same mouth,” he observed pointedly. Trump, in his view, doesn’t play that game.

Coming from Nigeria’s most recognisable pastor, that is one endorsement Trump’s team will not be returning.
