Human rights lawyer Femi Falana and members of the #EndBadGovernance movement took to the streets of Lagos on Democracy Day, demanding urgent action on insecurity, kidnapping and worsening economic hardship.
According to Sahara Reporters, protesters gathered at the Ikeja Underbridge carrying placards with messages such as “No Democracy Without Security” and “End Bad Governance.” The march drew civil society groups, including members of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR).
The demonstrators argued that despite 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule, many Nigerians continue to struggle with rising food prices, inflation, violent attacks and declining living standards.
Falana urged elected leaders to be more accountable, insisting that democracy should deliver security, economic relief and improved welfare for ordinary citizens across the country.
