Abducted Oyo teachers and pupils still held in Old Oyo National Park, governor reveals

Twenty-seven days after suspected bandits abducted scores of students and teachers in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde says the victims are still being held within the Old Oyo National Park.

According to The PUNCH, intelligence reports indicate that the abductees remain somewhere within the vast 2,500-square-kilometre park, which stretches across parts of 10 local government areas in the state.

Makinde acknowledged the pain and uncertainty facing affected families but insisted that security agencies have not relented. He said every credible lead is being pursued and all lawful measures are being deployed to secure the victims’ safe release.

The governor also urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities through the state’s emergency channels and avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine ongoing rescue operations.
