‘Without me, there would be no Israel’: Trump lashes out at Netanyahu

President Trump declared at the G7 summit in France that Israel wouldn’t exist without him, criticizing Netanyahu’s continued military operations in Lebanon despite a new US-Iran ceasefire deal.

Trump just reminded Netanyahu who he thinks is really in charge.

Speaking at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, on Tuesday, President Trump took aim at Israel’s continued operations in Lebanon, according to ANI News.

The comments come days after the US and Iran announced a deal to end the Middle East war “on all fronts,” including Lebanon, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. But Netanyahu pushed back on Monday, vowing Israeli troops would stay put: “We will remain in the security zones as long as required in order to defend our country,” he said, adding that “the struggle has not ended.” Israel then struck a Beirut suburb just as the Iran deal was being announced.

Trump didn’t hide his frustration, saying the Hezbollah fight has dragged on “too long” and taken too many lives: “You don’t have to knock down an apartment house every time you’re looking for somebody, because there are a lot of people in those apartment houses, and they’re not all Hezbollah, that I can tell you.”

He even suggested Israel step back entirely: “I suggested to Israel to let Syria take care of Hezbollah because, to be honest with you, I think they’re doing a better job of doing it.”

Then the kicker: “Without us, without the United States, there would be no Israel. Without me, there would be no Israel, because no other president was willing to do what I did… but now Bibi has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon.”
