The United States has committed more than $162 million to strengthen efforts against the Ebola outbreak spreading across Central Africa. According to PM News Nigeria, the funding will support containment operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, where health authorities are racing to stop further transmission.
The U.S. Department of State says the package is being deployed with the CDC and international partners to boost surveillance, treatment, and prevention. Additional support includes humanitarian funding through the UN and resources for Ebola treatment centres.
Health officials warn of wider regional risks, prompting tighter border screening, travel advisories, and expanded diagnostic capacity. The outbreak response also includes contact tracing, public awareness campaigns, and emergency medical deployments aimed at preventing global spread as international coordination intensifies.
