Northern Christian leaders say Trump’s claim of ending Christian killings in Nigeria is misleading and out of touch with realities on the ground.
Northern Christian leaders aren’t buying Donald Trump’s victory lap.
The Christian Association of Nigeria’s northern bloc and the Ecumenical Synods of Bishops have dismissed the US President’s claim that American strikes ended the killing of Christians in Nigeria, calling it misleading and false.
Trump had boasted in Washington that US action “largely ended the slaughter” of Christians, claiming top terrorist leaders were taken out.
But CAN’s northern chairman, Joseph Hayab, pushed back hard, telling The Punch that Nigerians are still being killed and kidnapped daily, and that victims — not Trump — should be the ones declaring victory.
Archbishop Osazee William echoed the scepticism, saying he’s seen no real evidence backing the claim beyond a single strike in Sokoto.
Both groups want genuine help, not political grandstanding.
