Trump threatens to retaliate after Iran allegedly downs US Apache helicopter

President Donald Trump has vowed a U.S. response after claiming Iran shot down an American Apache helicopter during a patrol mission over the Strait of Hormuz, further escalating tensions between the two countries.

A fresh diplomatic and military storm may be brewing in the Middle East after President Donald Trump claimed that Iran shot down a U.S. Apache helicopter during a patrol operation over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Daily Post, Trump made the announcement on Tuesday via his Truth Social platform, saying he had been briefed by American military officials about the overnight incident.

In his statement, Trump described the aircraft as a “highly sophisticated Apache Helicopter” and insisted that Washington could not ignore the alleged attack.

He wrote: “I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz.

“There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important waterways, serving as a major route for global oil shipments. Any military confrontation in the area often triggers concerns about energy supplies, shipping security and broader regional stability.

For now, attention is focused on whether Iran will respond to the allegation and what form any American retaliation might take in the coming days.
