Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has alleged that opposition elements are fueling insecurity across Nigeria to undermine President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has stirred political debate after alleging that rising insecurity across Nigeria is being orchestrated by opposition forces seeking to weaken President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Daily Trust, the governor made the remarks during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the forthcoming local government elections in Edo South Senatorial District.
Addressing party supporters, Okpebholo suggested that recent security challenges were not coincidental but part of a broader political agenda.
“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. What is happening today is the handiwork of the opposition.”
He further declared: “They have failed. Have they not failed? Is it by kidnapping children? Then who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern. So let them give us peace so that we can rule well.”
The governor argued that insecurity would not earn anyone political advantage, Senate seats, House of Representatives positions or the presidency.
