“This bill gives the President the authority to equip Israel with the tools and training they need to deter Tehran,” said Rep. Lawler.
A new bipartisan bill could authorize President Donald Trump to transfer B-2 stealth bombers and 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs to Israel if Iran is found pursuing nuclear weapons development.
The Bunker Buster Act, introduced by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) and Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), follows recent U.S. airstrikes that targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
“This bill gives the President the authority to equip Israel with the tools and training they need to deter Tehran,” Lawler said. Gottheimer added, “Iran… can never have a nuclear weapon.”
Although B-2 bombers delivered 14 bunker busters during the strikes, the U.S. has never transferred custody of its B-2 fleet—only 19 are in service.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed severe damage at Iran’s Fordow site but warned Iran could resume enrichment “in a matter of months.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee suggested deploying B-2s to Yemen after a recent Houthi missile attack on Israel, citing persistent regional threats.
