A Yoruba group has urged Tinubu to act swiftly over attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, warning of rising anger and possible retaliation.
A Yoruba socio-cultural group, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, has criticised Bola Ahmed Tinubu over alleged inaction on attacks against Nigerians in South Africa. The group condemned reported killings, harassment, and destruction of Nigerian-owned properties, warning that public anger is rising.
In a strongly worded statement, it urged swift intervention, stating, “Don’t allow things to escalate before you take action.” It added, “Nigerians are boiling and patient, but their patience will soon be exhausted once no action is taken.” The group also called for pressure on Cyril Ramaphosa and suggested sanctions on companies like MTN Group and MultiChoice Group.
It warned that continued violence could trigger reprisals while advising Nigerians abroad to prioritise safety.
