Cross River police have arrested a suspect after discovering eight decomposed bodies in an illegal mortuary in Akamkpa.
The Cross River State Police Command has uncovered an illegal mortuary in Isong Inyang Community, Akamkpa LGA, recovering eight decomposed bodies. Police spokesperson ASP Eitokpah Sunday said operatives acted on credible intelligence about corpses at a local embalming hall along the Calabar–Ikom Highway.
“At about 11:56 hours on the said date, credible information was received regarding the presence of corpses at the facility… Upon arrival, eight well-dried corpses were discovered in the hall,” the statement read. One suspect, identified as Sunday Ben Reuben, is in custody as investigations continue.
