According to Punch Newspapers, Ayo Opadokun, General Secretary of the National Democratic Coalition, has alleged in his book The NADECO Story that several prominent Nigerians, including former Senate President David Mark, ex-governor Sule Lamido and Jim Nwobodo, were signatories to the post-annulment arrangement following the June 12, 1993 election. He claimed the document helped pave the way for an Interim National Government under military-era negotiations.
Opadokun described the process as a compromise that undermined the mandate of MKO Abiola and remains a controversial chapter in Nigeria’s democratic history. The claims have reignited debate over the roles played by key political actors during the crisis.
