Obasa rejects claims he sponsored Lagos APC primary protests

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has denied allegations that he sponsored protests over the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primaries in the state.

The denial follows demonstrations by APC members from several local government areas who gathered at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja, alleging irregularities in the primary process.

According to Daily Post, messages circulating on WhatsApp claimed Obasa provided N2 billion to coordinate the protests. The Speaker described the allegation as “malicious, misleading and baseless,” insisting he had no reason to fund demonstrations since he is not a candidate in the disputed election.

Obasa also warned against using his name to fuel political tension, stressing that he remains committed to peace, unity and stability within the ruling party.

“My steadfast commitment remains the unity, peace, and progress of our great party and the people of Lagos State,” he said.
