Two people were killed after suspected cultists attacked a wedding after-party in Lagos, prompting a police investigation.
A wedding celebration in the Ikotun area of Lagos turned tragic on Saturday after suspected cultists shot dead a bride’s father and a hypeman identified as Victor. The attack occurred during an after-party on Governor’s Road, throwing guests into panic as gunmen opened fire.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the venue and targeted Victor. “They were holding an after-party… the gunmen entered their midst and opened fire indiscriminately,” a resident, Tosin, said. Another source revealed the bride’s father was shot while trying to intervene, stating, “the gunmen shot both of them. They died on the spot.”
Police confirmed the incident and said investigations have commenced, with the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.
The attack is suspected to be linked to ongoing cult clashes in the area.
