‘It is never too late’: Savannah Guthrie appeals to suspected kidnapper

US TV anchor Savannah Guthrie has appealed for the safe return of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared in a suspected kidnapping, as the FBI analyses DNA evidence from a glove found near her Arizona home.

Savannah Guthrie has issued a public plea for the release of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, two weeks after she vanished in what authorities believe was a kidnapping. In a video message, the television anchor addressed “whoever has her, or knows where she is,” urging them to come forward and adding that her family “still have hope.” She stressed that “it is never too late to do the right thing,” as loved ones continue to await news of her mother’s whereabouts.

Investigators say the suspected abduction occurred in the early hours of 1 February, with authorities identifying a person of interest captured in doorbell-camera footage on the night Nancy Guthrie went missing. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) disclosed on Sunday that a glove recovered from a field about two miles from her home in Tucson is being analysed for DNA. The glove appears to match one worn by the suspect seen in the surveillance video.

According to the FBI, about 16 gloves were collected from various locations near her residence, though most were discarded by volunteers searching for Guthrie. “The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video,” the FBI said. The agency added that it has received preliminary DNA test results and is awaiting “quality control and official confirmation” before entering an “unknown male profile” into its database linked to the suspect.
