ISWAP suffers heavy losses in Malam Fatori, death toll rises to 75

Nigerian troops, backed by air support, killed at least 75 Islamic State West Africa Province fighters while repelling an attack in Malam Fatori, Borno State.

At least 75 fighters from Islamic State West Africa Province have been killed following a failed attack on Nigerian troops in Malam Fatori, Borno State.

The insurgents reportedly advanced toward a military base using armed drones, but were swiftly repelled by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Nigerian Air Force in a coordinated response.

Military sources said multiple airstrikes targeted fleeing fighters, leading to heavy casualties, while troops recovered weapons and ammunition, with only four soldiers sustaining minor injuries.
