The United States Embassy in Riyadh caught fire on Tuesday after what the Saudi Ministry of Defense described as an attack involving two suspected Iranian drones. Authorities said the blaze was quickly contained and caused limited damage to the building.
In a statement, the ministry said the fire was “limited” and resulted in minor structural damage, with no immediate reports of casualties. Security agencies cordoned off the area as emergency responders worked to extinguish the flames and assess the extent of the impact.
According to a report by Reuters, a loud blast was heard before the fire broke out, and smoke was seen rising over Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter, which houses several foreign missions. Investigations are ongoing as tensions remain high in the region.
