ADC member Kenneth Okonkwo has condemned the APC-led government for neglecting the military and prioritized foreign travel over addressing the nation’s “bleeding” security situation.
Kenneth Okonkwo, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has issued a scathing critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of “incompetence and corruption” as Nigeria faces a deteriorating security crisis. Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Okonkwo alleged that “members of the armed forces are being killed because the APC could not provide more boots on the ground, nor modern equipment to fight,” further claiming that while insurgents utilize advanced technology like drones, Nigerian soldiers are “barely fighting with their hands” amid “extremely low” morale.
He specifically condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for maintaining a diplomatic visit to the UK alongside the Minister of Defense during a period of national bloodshed, stating, “You have a president treading on the blood of Nigerians being killed in the name of a red carpet in London.” Drawing a sharp contrast with international standards of military honor, Okonkwo noted that while U.S. leaders personally receive fallen heroes, the current administration lacks such “urgency,” ultimately concluding that “APC is for the powerful. ADC is for the people.”
