Gowon left out critical facts about the Biafra war in his autobiography, says Obidigbo

Elder statesman and Igbochukwu Organisation convener, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, has criticised former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon’s autobiography, saying it failed to fully address key events surrounding the Nigerian Civil War. According to Nigerian Tribune, Obidigbo argued that Gowon omitted crucial details about the breakdown of relations between the Federal Military Government and Biafran leader Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

He urged surviving leaders of that era to provide younger Nigerians with a more complete account of the conflict and its aftermath. Obidigbo claimed Ojukwu was driven largely by concerns over the safety of Eastern Nigerians amid anti-Igbo violence.

He also called for reconciliation, urging Gowon to help heal old wounds by sharing what he described as the full truth about the war.
