Flutterwave has crossed a major global milestone, processing over 1 billion transactions and handling more than $40 billion in total payments since launch, according to Nairametrics.
The fintech firm, founded by Olugbenga Agboola, says its growth has been driven by rising adoption of digital payments across Africa and beyond. In the past year alone, wallet-based transactions jumped 289%, while bank transfers rose 184%, highlighting the shift toward cashless systems.
Flutterwave now operates in over 50 currencies across multiple continents and continues to expand its regulatory footprint with new licences in several African markets. The company also deepened its fintech infrastructure through partnerships aimed at improving cross-border payments. The report, published by Nairametrics, underscores Flutterwave’s growing role in shaping Africa’s digital finance ecosystem.
