Some filling stations in Abuja have slightly reduced petrol prices after Dangote Refinery cut its gantry price by ₦100 per litre, though several outlets have yet to adjust their pump prices.
Some Nigerian filling stations have begun reducing petrol pump prices following a ₦100 per litre gantry price cut by Dangote Refinery. Daily Post reports that Ranoil and Sharon filling stations in Abuja lowered their fuel prices by ₦20 to ₦1,330 per litre on Tuesday from ₦1,350.
However, retail outlets operated by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, alongside MRS Oil Nigeria and AA Rano Nigeria Limited, raised their pump prices on Tuesday morning to between ₦1,260 and ₦1,330 per litre, up from around ₦1,090 per litre on Monday. These stations are yet to respond to the refinery’s price reduction and the recent drop in global crude oil prices. Meanwhile, the price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) remained unchanged at about ₦1,780 per litre at Ranoil, AA Rano and other stations in Abuja.
A manager at an MRS filling station in Abuja, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that their petrol price stood at ₦1,260 and could not say if a reduction would follow the refinery’s price adjustment and declining crude prices. Reacting to the development, the National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, said filling stations may review their prices in the coming days. “An adjustment may come from now to Friday since Dangote refinery cut gantry price to N1,075 per liter today,” he said. Reports also indicate that Dangote Refinery has suspended gantry petrol sales since Sunday, a development that could limit the immediate impact of the latest price cut.
