Education Minister Tunji Alausa disclosed the move on Tuesday in Abuja during the inauguration of the Universal Basic Education Commission Ministerial Implementation and Monitoring Committee, according to Punch.
Alausa said the disarticulation policy had failed to improve access to education, noting Nigeria has about 80,000 public primary schools but only 15,000 junior secondary schools, an imbalance causing overcrowded JSS facilities and underutilized senior secondary schools in several states.
The minister said the proposal will be presented to the National Council on Education as part of broader reforms aimed at improving access to basic education and reducing dropout rates, Punch reported.
