FCT police enforce tinted glass ban, impound over 30 vehicles

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has kicked off a major enforcement drive against tinted vehicles in Abuja, impounding more than 30 vehicles in the process.

As reported by PUNCH, the operation targets vehicles with tinted glasses, obscured number plates, and improper registration. FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi said intelligence reports showed that criminals involved in kidnappings, one-chance robberies, and other violent crimes often use such vehicles to evade detection.

Sanusi stressed that the exercise is aimed at improving public safety, not inconveniencing law-abiding residents. He warned that owners of impounded vehicles would face prosecution under relevant laws.

The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, describing the crackdown as part of broader efforts to deny criminals cover within the nation’s capital.
