According to Vanguard News, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has used its Eid-el-Kabir message to slam government at all levels over worsening hunger, insecurity and poverty across the country. In a statement by President Joe Ajaero, the union said Nigerians are bleeding under neoliberal policies that have deepened hardship and frustration nationwide. It urged leaders to reflect, prioritise security of lives, food, shelter, healthcare, education and decent work, noting rising banditry, kidnappings and violence.
It warned that ahead of 2027 elections, Nigerians must use their ballots to reject anti-people policies and demand accountability from political leaders. Vanguard News reports that NLC also called for unity, grassroots mobilisation and political education among workers and citizens ahead of a crucial election cycle.
