The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a staff member of the University of Benin, Segun Bode Adedeji, over an alleged N3.2 million salary fraud.
According to SaharaReporters, the anti-graft agency brought Adedeji before Justice E. G. Adekanmbi of the Edo State High Court on a four-count charge involving N3,285,396.
The EFCC alleged that while working at the University of Benin, Adedeji simultaneously received salaries from the National Orthopedic Hospital, Benin City. Investigators claim the alleged double salary payments resulted in financial losses to the government.
The Commission said intelligence gathered by its operatives uncovered the payments, leading to the filing of charges.
The case has been adjourned for further proceedings, while details of the defendant’s plea and bail conditions were not immediately disclosed.
