Ebonyi court sentences two convicted kidnappers to death

An Ebonyi High Court has sentenced two men to death for kidnapping a two-year-old boy who was sold for N500,000 and has remained missing since August 2020.

Justice delayed, but not denied. Tribune Online reports that an Ebonyi State High Court has sentenced Kelechi Iloke and Ikpere Kingsley to death for kidnapping two-year-old Benjamin in August 2020 — a boy who has never been found. Iloke, the landlord’s son, lured the toddler with biscuits before handing him to Kingsley, who sold the child to a man known as “OG” for N500,000, collecting N150,000 as part payment. Justice Chinyere Ken-Eze convicted both men based on confessional statements and eyewitness accounts from the victim’s sisters. Despite years of searching, little Benjamin remains missing, leaving his family without closure even as justice is served.
