Oyo State’s Muslim community has hit back hard at the bandits holding abducted teachers and students from Oriire LGA, flatly rejecting their demand for Sharia law implementation as a condition for releasing the captives. The community described the terrorists’ actions as criminal and contrary to Islamic teachings, stating that “Islam forbids kidnapping, terrorism and the extortion of innocent citizens.”
Meanwhile, schools across all 33 local government areas shut down in solidarity with victims. The Oyo State Government, however, has stayed tight-lipped on negotiations. Per PUNCH, security analysts remain divided on whether to negotiate or hold firm.
