Dangote Petroleum Refinery has cut its petrol gantry price by N75 to N1,175 per litre, citing the de-escalation of Middle East tensions and falling global crude prices.
Some relief might finally be heading to the pump.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit by N75 per litre, according to The Punch.
In a circular to fuel marketers on Monday, the refinery tied the move directly to global events: “Following the de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which has impacted energy prices. We wish to inform you that we have reviewed our premium motor spirit gantry/coastal price.”
The numbers: gantry price drops from N1,250 to N1,175 per litre, while the coastal price per metric tonne falls from N1,595,790 to N1,495,215. Both changes take effect from midnight.
The refinery also flagged that anyone with unloaded fuel sitting in the pipeline gets the new, lower rate too: “Kindly note that all outstanding unloaded gantry volumes will be repriced at the new rate effective 12:00 AM, June 16, 2026.”
It closed the circular with the usual reassurance: “We sincerely appreciate your continued patronage and assure you of our unwavering commitment to reliable product supply and excellent service delivery.”
The bigger picture, per Punch, is a ceasefire between the US and Iran that’s been pulling Brent crude prices down — with some analysts suggesting Nigerian petrol could eventually dip as low as N900 per litre if the calm holds.
For now, though, N75 off is N75 off — and Nigerians will take it.
