A fresh twist has emerged in the abduction of retired Major General Abubakar Rabe, a former Director of Defence Information, and his wife in Katsina State.
According to a report by Punch Newspapers, the couple’s abductors have demanded the release of three detained fighters and the return of livestock allegedly seized during security operations before they can regain their freedom.
The demand was conveyed through a video released by the kidnappers, in which the retired general and his wife appealed to authorities and community leaders to intervene. The wife identified the detained men as Sani, Aminu and Nasiru, while also calling for the return of the animals reportedly confiscated from the group.
Rabe, who served as a military spokesman, also urged all parties to pursue dialogue and peaceful coexistence. Notably, no ransom demand was mentioned in the video released by the captors.
