Are some Northern elements behind increasing insecurity in Yoruba land to de-market the President?

Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, a former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and founding member of the coalition that forpjpmed the APC in February 2021, once publicly announced that some Northern politicians, keen on ensuring the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 Presidential election or, alternatively, to have an armed militia ready to deploy in case President Goodluck Jonathan was declared winner of the 2015 Presidential election, imported Fulani terrorists from some neighboring countries – Mali, Chad, Senegal, Niger among them. He claimed further that these terrorists refused to leave Nigeria after the elections, even after the Buhari government had allegedly paid them billions through a Pan Fulani organisation, thus contributing maximally to insecurity in Nigeria.

That declaration has never been conclusively denied.

Indeed, to further authenticate it, it is mostly Fulani terrorists, rated the third most dangerous terrorist organisation worldwide, that have been tormenting every part of Nigeria in the past one and a half decades.

Today’s article derives from the above premise, butressed by the fact that the North never ever wants to be out of political power.

The Southwest has never, before now, that is, been a theatre of war. For decades, it stood apart as the country’s zone of commerce, education, and relative calm. That reputation is now under assault.
