ADC aspirant boycotts primary results over widespread rigging claims

ADC presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has boycotted the party’s primary result announcement, citing widespread vote rigging across Nigeria.

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a prominent presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 election, has boycotted the announcement of the party’s primary election results, alleging widespread irregularities. The development unfolds amidst fierce competition for the ADC ticket between Hayatu-Deen, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

While party leadership previously defended the primary as a transparent and democratic process, Hayatu-Deen countered that widespread vote rigging across Nigeria has severely compromised the credibility of the election.

Explaining his absence from the Abuja collation venue, Hayatu-Deen stated: “I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today. I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps.”
