Five soldiers have been killed after troops successfully thwarted a terrorist attack in Borno. The terrorists launched the assault early Friday morning amidst poor weather conditions, attempting to breach the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Mandaragirau.
A fierce counter-offensive by the troops repelled the attackers, inflicting casualties. “Five gallant soldiers paid the supreme price during the intense firefight,” stated Lt.-Col. Haruna Sani, spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai. Three members of the CJTF also lost their lives. Troops maintain control of the FOB.
