Mount Everest Survivor Defies Odds
Dawa Sherpa, 57, a Nepali mountaineer, survived nearly a week on Mount Everest by chewing ice after his oxygen ran out. Stranded in the ‘death zone’ since May 30, his family had given up hope. Found crawling by the SPCC on June 4, he is now recovering from frostbite and a fractured thigh. His survival sparks joy, but also anger over delayed rescue.
