Security tightened in Ibadan as protesters demand rescue of kidnapped students, teachers

According to Daily Post, heavy security presence took over parts of Ibadan on Monday as civil society groups protested the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State. Operatives of the police and NSCDC were stationed at key locations, including the state secretariat, Mokola, Sango, and Iwo Road, ahead of the demonstration.

Members of the Take-It-Back Movement and other CSOs marched through the city, demanding urgent rescue efforts and stronger action against rising kidnappings. Protesters carried placards calling for safer communities and protection for students and farmers.

Authorities say security operations are ongoing to secure the victims’ release. The protest underscores growing public anger over insecurity in the region.
