Activist Aisha Yesufu has pulled out of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial race for the Federal Capital Territory, effectively ending her 2027 ambition for the seat, according to Vanguard News.
In a statement on Friday, Yesufu said the party would not hold primaries for the FCT Senate ticket, a move that automatically halted her candidacy. She urged supporters to stay focused and calm, stressing that the broader goal remains the 2027 presidential election.
Yesufu also thanked supporters of her campaign and vowed to continue grassroots engagement across Abuja’s six area councils. The activist, known for her outspoken political activism, said she will keep pushing for a “better FCT” despite stepping back from the senatorial contest.
