Over the past few weeks, we have been informing key members of the U.S. government that Nigerian President #Tinubu has been attempting to portray U.S. military strikes against ISIS in Northern Nigeria as an endorsement of his administration by President Trump and the broader U.S. government.

Yesterday, the @DeptofWar’s @USAfricaCommand responded publicly. In our opinion, their statement made clear that while the United States is willing to work with the current Nigerian government, and any future Nigerian government to save Nigerian lives and combat terrorism, that should not be mistaken for trust in the government of Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT).

We will continue reminding our friends in Congress and the White House of reports alleging that members of the #Tinubu government are funding the very terrorists U.S. troops are now risking their lives to fight, and of allegations that funds earmarked for weapons for the Nigerian military are instead ending up in the bank accounts of Nigerian politicians.
