2027: Primate Ayodele warns Jonathan against presidential bid

Primate Ayodele warned former President Jonathan that a 2027 presidential bid, while politically impactful, risks staining his image and demands exceptional courage to pursue.

Prominent cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a stern warning to former President Goodluck Jonathan over a potential 2027 presidential run, cautioning that the ambition could damage his hard-earned reputation. The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church spoke following reports that a group approached Jonathan on Thursday, urging him to contest.

“Former President Goodluck Jonathan will be good on the ballot, but his prestigious image may be stained. If truly he wants to contest, it will be tough for every candidate, including President Tinubu, but he must be very careful,” Ayodele said.

The cleric described Jonathan as “scared and indecisive” but acknowledged his candidacy would attract international backing and reshape Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Jonathan’s candidacy will shock a lot of people, but he is scared. He must be courageous because the journey isn’t for the faint-hearted,” Ayodele added.
